July 2024

15 of us and a dog   set of on a nice sunny day round Heybridge Basin, Maldon. We walked along the coastal path admiring the views (shame the tide was out), stopping for our coffee break at Osea View Cafe.  Dogs not being allowed in 3 people sat outside eating apple pies, while the rest of us went inside upstairs looking out over the lovely views of Osea island enjoying our coffees/teas.
After our break we then walked back to the Carpark, wind picking up on the way back due to the tide coming in.  In all we walked 4 miles.  At the Carpark we said goodbye to 2 people who went home, while the rest of us went on for our meal at the Jolly Sailor.  Due to parking restrictions we had to move our cars to the pubs Carpark.
We then had a lovely lunch, dog included this time.

May Ramble

Ten of us set of on Wednesday 8th May on a hot sunny day from Langdon Hills, Westley Heights Carpark. We started our walk entering Marks Hill Nature Reserve and aimed to do a round route going through Willow Park Nature Reserve and returning back to Westley heights.

As usual though we got lost and walked back the way we came. We then had lunch at the Miller & Carter, that was not as good as usual for several reasons.

We all enjoyed our walk very much, although someone found it a bit hard going. On our walks we usually do about 4 miles but sometimes we do 5, 6 or 7, please keep this in mind if you would like to join us. More the merrier, if you don’t think you can manage the walk you can always just come for the meal.

Our next ramble is on Wednesday 12th June to Hadleigh Park. Hopefully we can do it this time after 5 attempts. We will meet in Leigh on Sea Station ticket office at 10:15, there is a Carpark at the station the price for parking is reduced after 10 this is why we are starting a bit later. After our walk we will be having lunch at The Mayflower.
